Q-Tech Roding e.K. was founded in 2006 by Ludwig Kerscher. Following its registration in the commercial register and the delivery of the first measuring machines, such as a ZEISS ACCURA coordinate measuring machine, the company officially commenced operations on September 1st at the Roding Innovation and Start-up Centre.
On November 9, 2006, the company presented itself to the general public. Before representatives from the district, city, and business community, as well as business partners and the press, owner Ludwig Kerscher presented his business model and provided information on the services and strategies of the young service company.

Already in its first business year, the order situation and positive customer feedback necessitated an expansion of the company. To this end, the range of measurement services was broadened through the acquisition of new equipment: an optical video measuring device from OGP and a contour measuring device from the Hommel-Etamic brand. Additionally, the Q-Tech Roding team also grew in terms of personnel.

Q-Tech Roding started the eventful year 2008 with another new employee. The most significant innovation was the commissioning of the ZEISS METROTOM 1500. With this computed tomography scanner, the company was able to significantly expand its range of services. Computed tomography offers users a wide range of application possibilities. Using X-rays, it is possible to non-destructively inspect the interior of components made of, for example, plastic, composite materials, or steel. The parts can thus be dimensionally measured and the corresponding results efficiently evaluated.

Q-Tech Roding e.K. used the 2009 business year to consolidate its previous successes, further drive dynamic development, and firmly establish itself as a high-performance partner in the industry. At MedTec 2009, the company therefore made its first trade fair appearance, presenting itself to the specialist audience from the medical technology sector, for whose needs Q-Tech Roding consistently offers innovative, tailor-made solutions.

In 2010, Q-Tech Roding e.K. once again utilized this important MedTec platform to present itself and its services, inform interested parties, and establish contacts. Furthermore, in January 2010, the company offered both its own employees and external personnel from other companies the opportunity to further their education through an AUKOM training course held at Q-Tech Roding e.K.'s premises. The goal of this training is to provide participants with comprehensive, manufacturer-independent knowledge in the field of coordinate metrology.

After an additional employee joined in 2010, the Q-Tech Roding e.K. team significantly expanded in 2011, both in terms of personnel and machinery, with the newly acquired ZEISS CONTURA. The successful completion of the certification according to DIN EN ISO-9001:2008 in July 2011 demonstrates that, despite a constantly expanding range of services and machinery, adherence to the highest quality standards is paramount.

Due to the excellent development Q-Tech Roding e.K. had experienced since its founding in 2006, the company took a major step into a new chapter of its history in 2012. After the Roding Innovation and Start-up Center, operated by the Cham district, provided the best initial conditions for the first few years, Q-Tech Roding e.K. began construction of its own company building in the Roding-Altenkreith industrial park in March 2012, which was ready for occupancy in August. This new technology center, with its state-of-the-art measurement laboratory and a further strengthening of our innovative and dynamic team, provides the best conditions for Q-Tech Roding e.K. to fully meet the high demands of customers in industrial metrology in the future.

Expansion of our 3D coordinate measuring equipment with a high-precision PRISMO ultra with a rotary table for measuring rotationally symmetrical components. In combination with our newly established fine measurement room, we can now provide our customers with even more precise results and also perform gear measurements.

We look back on ten years of precision: continuous company growth, a highly trained team, and a modern machine park. These are the best prerequisites for the coming years and future customer projects. To thank them for their tireless dedication, we celebrated the anniversary with our employees. District Administrator Franz Löffler, Mayor Franz Reichold, and Richard Brunner, Managing Director of the Cham Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK), also honored us with their presence and presented us with the IHK certificate for our tenth anniversary. This new technology center, with its state-of-the-art measurement laboratory and a further strengthening of our innovative and dynamic team, provides the best conditions for Q-Tech Roding e.K. to fully meet the high demands of customers in industrial metrology in the future.

Since October 2019, Fabian Kerscher, representing the second generation, has been shaping the future of Q-Tech in Roding. After completing his mechatronics apprenticeship at Technical Plastic Systems GmbH in Wackersdorf, he graduated as the best German apprentice. During his mechatronics studies at the Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule in Regensburg, Fabian Kerscher qualified twice as a scholarship recipient in the scholarship program of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, which supports talented and high-achieving students.

Just in time for the new year, we invested in a new machine: The new ZEISS METROTOM 1500 replaces our first computed tomography scanner after 11 years. With the third generation of this computed tomography (CT) scanner, we once again offer you the latest state-of-the-art technology in-house. Thanks to the innovative 3K detector, our X-ray images can achieve triple the resolution (3072 x 3072 pixels) with significantly higher accuracy, allowing us to provide you with even more detailed analysis.

We are very proud that State Minister Hubert Aiwanger presented us with the funding approval from the Bavarian Collaborative Research Program 'BayVFP,' funding line Digitalization – Information and Communication Technology. Together with the Technology Campus Cham, we can now launch the research project 'AUTOLOAD.' Within the scope of this project, we aim to address forward-looking topics such as Smart Factory, additive manufacturing, the industrial application of AI, and automation and digitalization in industrial metrology, and to find innovative solutions for them. Because especially now, in these challenging times, it is crucial to think about tomorrow today and to break new ground with promising topics and ideas.
